Deinococcus Radiodurans
Introduction
This website is dedicated researching and distributing information on the
bacteria so rightfully named Deinococcus Radiodurans, or "strange berry
that withstands radiation". It was discovered in 1956 in a can of spoiled
meat, after being hit by lethal amounts of radiation. Deinococcus
Radiodurans can be found in polar extremes such as Antarctica, hot
springs, and even the cooling waters for nuclear generators.
It is most know for its resistance to situations of dehydration
and radiation. This website will go into detail on the different
characteristics of Deincoccus Radiodurans. Austin and I, Travis, hope that
everyone benefits from our research.
