Tuesday 12/4/07
Austin figured out what the password is so we can both log on to the website. We both have found some
information and plan to upload it tomorrow. We found one really website that goes into a lot of detail, so we need to just skim through
it and get the important facts. All of the dates and scientists are not necessary.
The web page is pretty easy to browse through and I think it will really start to come together tomorrow. The bacteria assigned
to us is going to be interesting because it is resistant to almost anything. The research on it will most likely yield some interesting results.
Wednesday 12/5/07
Today I did not have much time to get work done, but I did find some very interesting information. The information should be posted on the website tomorrow, and
hopefully the pictures will be fixed. Austin and I are hoping to find some links to other websites that also cover
the topic of Deinococcus Radiodurans. I have found two articles from the Gale Database that were very informative, and I have cited both
of them. The slideshow that Austin put together should be pretty cool. We need to get our act together so we don't fall behind schedule.
Thursday 12/6/07
I had a basketball tournament today, so Austin and I did not get to meet and discuss the website. I now have three sources which are reliable and informative,
but each website that covers Deinococcus Radiodurans just repeats what the last website had. The Encyclopedia Brittanica does not have an article on Deinococcus
Radiodurans. Tomorrow the first chunk of information will be posted, and the beginning of the bibliography will be posted. I have a fair amount of information, and that information grouped with
Austin's should be enough to get us going. I'll begin looking for more pictures and diagrams tomorrow.
Friday 12/7/07
I have not posted anything today, but Austin fixed the famous sighting sheet. It is pretty impressive. I've found some interesting articles and
I will have some information posted by Monday. I've found a lot of detail on how Deinococcus Radiodurans is "resistant" to the effects of radiation and dehydration.
It actually is able to repair the DNA that is damaged by the radiation. NASA has been writing that Deinococcus Radiodurans may possibly be used in a future attempt
to terraform Mars because of it's resilience and low nutrient requirements.
Saturday 12/8-Sunday 12/9
I have just created a new page that will have an introduction to Deinococcus Radiodurans and another page that will
contain the bibliography for the website. Austin and I need to meet up to get the information we have up and posted
as soon as possible. The pictures and add-ons can come after we get the heart of the website going. Hopefully I will be
able to find information on Deinococcus Radiodurans that does not only have to do with its resilience.
Monday 12/10
Today I have added a little more to the page on terraforming Mars that Austin created. Tomorrow should be a good day because
Austin and I will have plenty of time work and post information. We have fallen far behind schedule, but we should be able to catch up if
we get some good work done tomorrow and on Wednesday. The bibliography is going very well and I will post it either tonight or tomorrow.
Tuesday 12/11
Today I have added a page on the basic information concerning Deinococcus Radiodurans. Austin will edit it and refine it, and
I plan to began the main portion of our information tomorrow Austin and I will get most of the work done Thursday and Friday
when we have free time to work on it. We have collected all the information we need and are beginning to fill out evaluations on paper
of websites we have used that were not already screened.
Wednesday 12/12
I was sick today and not able to get much work done. I think that Austin has done some editing
and refining today. I am still going to start the main portion on how Deinococcus Radiodurans's amazing
resistance works. I should have it done by Friday, and Austin and I will probably meet over the weekend to work
on the website to get it prepared for presentation on either Monday or Tuesday.
Thursday 12/13
I had practice today and i didn't have much time to get work done. Austin and i have a plan for finishing up the
website and plan to have the website itself done by the end of Saturday. I am still finding new websites
that are helpful and informative. Some of the statistics from different webistes are different, but they are usually
used to make the same point. I plan to finish my writings by tomorrow.
Friday 12/14
I'm really frustrated because I wrote a lot of stuff, but the website deleted everything i had written when I
tried to save. I having some trouble concentrating, so I am planning to finish my writing tomorrow morning, and
I will begin editing different pages. Austin is going to do a lot of editing and writing too. I am going to turn in
the URL on Sunday.
Saturday 12/15
Today we finished the website. I finished writing the main part of the website and added an extra page. I proof-read those
pages later. Austin went through and edited every single page and got rid of a bunch of typos and grammar errors.
We also have the papers and folder ready for presentation on Monday or Tuesday. Now we are just trying to think of anything else we
can put to make it look even better.
